VA: Reading Response - Week 6

"Why Being Less Bad is No Good” and “Eco-Effectiveness"

The Title of the book speaks a lot to this subject. The concept of cradle to cradle is simple the idea of seeing sustainability with the view of how it will affect the world after we are long gone. Most people what to see the changes that are short term and they will see in their own lifetime but truly this in something much more long term. It was mentions that recycling is not doing much to reverse the damage that been done to the earth in fact its probably only just  slowing down the damage. The products that are recycle just end up creating lower quality products this process is referred to as downcycling. So its pretty obvious that the benefit of recycling won't save the work since its an inefficient process therefor we need to strive to create eco-efficient everything. This will be a goal that we probably won't see in our lifetime or any lifetime but its something we should strive for.

Catherine Gray on sustainable business

It makes me really happy to know that there are people out there educating big business on sustainability and even happier that the big business are approaching them. Large corporation probably have the most influence over the effects of our planet and in the past the health of our planet was not an issue but now its a big thing. There was a recent satirical article about how millennials are the worst generation yet, a lot the criticism coming from the perspective of a Baby Boomer. The ended in an apology to that Baby Boomer that was actually more of a criticism on their cultures destruction of our economy and ecology. I understand that the damage on our earth is not one generations fault but we need to all start making sustainability a standard and our generation will be the ones to keep that as a tradition in the future.
